Cipriano Gomes, is one of the twins born to a middle class family in a village, Chorao-Goa.

His childhood days were tough and he often remembers the difficult days where he had to walk miles to school without shoes.

To make ends meat for the family he would go to Mapusa bazaar to sell mangoes, bananas and rice which they grew on the farm.

It is with much sadness that we have to announce the death of Flory Cordeiro on March 29th in Goa.

Flory is the mother of Maura DaCruz, Malvina Athaide (RIP) and May Cordeiro in Vancouver and Mavis DaCruz (New Jersey), Merlyn Velho (Goa) and Milena Moniz (UK). She leaves behind her loving daughters, sons-in law and many grandchildren.

Flory was an active member of the 'Golden Heritage Seniors Club'. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

Lucian Franz (husband of Ruby and father of Juju, Kevi, Milu & Lorraine) passed away on Feb 14th, 2010.

Our deepest sympathies go to Ruby Franz, her children and all of their families.

The service will be held at: St. Bernadette Parish. There will be a Wake and Viewing service from 7:15PM - 8:00PM on Thursday, Feb 18th, 2010, followed by the Funeral Mass beginning at 8:00PM. After the mass refreshments hosted by the family.

GOA Vancouver wishes to announce the passing of Maria Antoinette Antao in Toronto. Maria, who lived in Uganda prior to settling in Toronto in 1974, was predeceased by her husband Anthony and her daughter, Jenny DeMello.

Our deepest sympathies go to their surviving children Vinolt Antao and Villa Pinto, both from Richmond, Vienna Fernandes, from Maple Ridge and Vita Lobo, Victor Antao, Virginia Vaithilingham and Dr Viola Antao, all from Toronto, and to their families.


28 May, 2009 Funeral Services for Joseph Ngyou:

On behalf of GOA Vancouver, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Teresa and her family on the passing away of her husband, Joseph (Joe) Ngyou. Joe died peacefully on May 23rd at Burnaby General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his wife Teresa, daughter Grace and husband John and their children Kayla and Devon, and son Kenneth and his wife Sharon and their children Isaac, Nicholas, Andrew and Adam.

Pray services will be held on Sunday, May 3lst at 5 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales church, 66l0 Balmoral St., Burnaby, followed thereafter by a short reception in the church hall. Anyone who wishes to bring finger foods/snacks for this day, please contact Val Carrasco at 604-271-9102 or 604-727-4462, who is co-ordinating this reception.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June lst at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Francis de Sales church. A reception will be held following Mass in the church hall.

For those who wish to attend, the burial will take place at Gardens of Gethsemani, l5800- 32nd Ave., Surrey, at 2.45 p.m.

The funeral mass for William (Willie) D'Cruze, husband of Camille D'Cruze and father of Glenn & Charissa, will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009, at 10:00 am at St. Paul's Church, 8251 St. Alban's Road, Richmond, BC. There will be a viewing half hour before the mass and a reception to follow after the mass.

The Goan Overseas Association is sad to announce the death of Laura D'Souza in Mumbai on December 31, 2008. She was the sister of Olga Vaz. Laura is survived by her husband Louis and her three married children: Lisa, Lester and Leroy.
May her soul rest in peace.


08 December, 2008 Stephen Joe De Souza, son of late Camillo and Argentina, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the FMC on December 4, 2008 at the age of 60 years.

He leaves behind his beloved children, Malcolm (Nathalie), Wesley (Georgina), Ryan (Ioulia), Melissa (Matthew), Justen and Vanessa. He is also survived by his grand-daughters Kaylin and Madison. He will be deeply missed by his brother Selzick (Corryine), nephew Al-Camil, niece Tina-Ann as well many other relatives and close friends. The family wishes to sincerely thank all the staff at CHR and FMC, especially in the ICU and Hemodialysis units for all their special care and treatment.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Pierson’s Funeral Service at 4121-17 Avenue SE, Calgary on Tuesday December 9, 2008 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.

Funeral mass will be held at Corpus Christi Parish at 404 Northmount Place NW on Wednesday December 10, 2008 at 11:00am, with Reverend Raul Ranola Celebrant. The interment will follow at Queens Park Cemetery (32 Ave. & 4 St. NW.)

17 November, 2008 Mrs. Esther da Silva, wife of the late Julius da Silva and mother of Rita, Reina, Joe and Cris, passed away peacefully on Saturday the 15th of November.

23 October, 2008 The G.O.A. would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family of Brendon Furtado who passed away on Oct 21st. He is predeceased by his father, Frank Furtado.

He is survived by his wife Marie-Theresa and his daughter Fedora, both of Richmond BC. He will be greatly missed by his mother Annie Furtado(Bombay); his sister Audrey & her husband Eusebio Mascarenhas (Bombay); brother Clifton Furtado & his wife Maryann Furtado (Bombay); and his sister-in-law Noella & her husband Leslie Travas (Richmond).

Margaret Cunha passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2008, at 8:20 pm Pacific Standard Time. While surrounded by her devoted husband, Paul, and children Nicola/Jean-Francois, Nitin with fiancee Blenda. Margaret passed on peacefully. May her soul rest in peace.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6th, at noon at Our Lady of Mercy parish (corner of Kingsway and 10th Avenue).
Light refreshments will be served after the service. Finger foods would be appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's name may be made to:
Pilar Sisters Association-Missionary society of St. Francis Xavier in Goa, India. There'll be a small basket for such drop offs in the foyer of Our Lady of Mercy Church.

The GOA is sad to announce the sudden death of one of its Member- Jose (Felix) de Quadros after a short illness. Jose is survived by his wife Benny and two sons James and Michael. Funeral services will be held for him as follows:
Prayer Service Thursday July 24 at 7.00 pm
Mass of Christian Burial Friday July 25 at 11.00 am

Both Services will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 2725 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver.

Members who wish to bring finger foods for the Friday service may do so and will be appreciated by the family.

COUTINHO, Maria Angela passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2008 with her family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by sons Richard, Edmund (France) and daughters Dulcie (Pat), Jocelyn (Jean-Claude), 7 grandchildren: Eric, Katherine, Sean, Meagan, Madison, Cassidy and Diego. She was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed by all.

Prayers will be offered at 7:30pm Monday, July 21, 2008 at Saint Joseph the Worker, 4451 Williams Rd, Richmond. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday, July 22, 2008 with interment to follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Surrey.

Mrs. Medina Francisca D’Souza passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, May 25th at Richmond Hospital. She is survived by her children Allan D’Souza (wife Patricia), Colleen Vishwanathan (husband Victor), Vivienne Fernandes (husband Nazareth), grandchildren, Cedric, Gloria and Aloysius D’Souza, Anita Bawa (husband Reg), Lara Vishwanathan, Melissa & Dustin Fernandes and great grandchildren Yamila & Kavin Bawa.

The following services are scheduled:
Wake Service: Friday May 30th at 8:00 pm
Funeral Mass: Saturday May 31st at 11:00 am

Both services are to be held at St Joseph the Worker Church, 4451 Williams Road, Richmond.

Please join the family for coffee and dessert after the wake service and light refreshments after the funeral mass. Finger foods would be appreciated.

It is with great sadness we announce that Florie Sales, wife of the late Alex Sales, passed away on May 9th, 2008. She was 84 year old. She is survived by her sons ,Anthony (and wife Jennifer) of Richmond, and Patrick, of Washington, DC, Joseph of Karachi, and twin grandsons Alex and Francis of Ottawa.

Please pray for the soul of Peter Damian Lobo who passed away peacefully on 10th February 2008 at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved father of Deborah D'Mello (GOA Vancouver Secretary), Darryl Lobo and Desiree Nazareth, father-in-law of Louis D'Mello, Edwina Lobo and Kenneth Nazareth and grandfather of Gavin, Vega, Sharlene, Dillan & Krystle.

Church: Immaculate Conception Church - 8842 - 119th Street, North Delta
Burial: 12:15 pm at North Delta Cemetery.
