Member Profile | Cipriano Gomes

Cipriano Gomes, is one of the twins born to a middle class family in a village, Chorao-Goa.

His childhood days were tough and he often remembers the difficult days where he had to walk miles to school without shoes.

To make ends meat for the family he would go to Mapusa bazaar to sell mangoes, bananas and rice which they grew on the farm.

GOA - Coat of Arms


The Coat of Arms in totality represents sun, sand and rhythm of soul which is the very essence of goan culture.

The various symbols that comprise the shield in the Coat of Arms are:

Church – representing the emphasises on religion.
Fish – symbolizing the authentic cuisine of Goa.
Musical notes – representing the fun loving and liveliness of goans.
Beaches – at every turn of the undulating coast are the alluring beaches offering solace to the mind.

The sunset and the ocean speaks of the geographical location of both Goa and Vancouver both being on the west coast.

The colours represent:

Green – blessed with nature.
Blue – close to the ocean
Red – symbolizing the liveliness of goans.
Yellow – the sunshine we enjoy.
